There are over 3400 exhibitors at the biannual trade show Maison et Objet in Paris, so it is no mean feat to be able to stand out and be noticed - but the new range from Dutch design team Studio Macura has commanded attention with it's pared back aesthetic with subtle details and elegant design.
Studio Macura are inspired by the possibilities of combining the natural materials of glass, wood, porcelain and marble - highlighting their intrinsic glory with the potential of what can be achieved with modern technologies such as 3D printing.
The carefully edited collection features everyday objects with high functionality.
The simplicity of Sava strongly appeals. A form of home organiser, it enables users to keep everyday items such as books, digital tablets, mobile, glasses etc in one place. Either on a table top surface or floor, the rectangular steel with the beautiful marble weight holds all the objects together.
The Boca porcelain vessel is a good-looking alternative to the traditional watering can! The forked design enables either a sprinkler effect or a steady stream with wayward drips collected by the felt ring.
This duality is seen again with the Vino - a cork wine bottle accessory that can either be used as a cork stopper, or as a bottle holder/coaster.
We particularly love the sense of fun and humour that imbues the collection. As seen in the book-mark options (the snail a new take on the book-worm - slow and steady wins the race) and the dove (available in three different positions) - all of which are manufactured by the 3D printing method.
The Leti is a pendant light with a 3D printed bird clipped onto the fabric cable. "This surreal and serene combination of the bird on the cable creates an iconic poetic object which is both out of the ordinary yet very familiar."
Lako is a highly sculptural object designed again to be a good-looking option for storing collections of magazines and newspapers.
Referencing the simplicity and utilitarian nature of Shaker design - the Visi coat hook in beech or oak, gives the user flexibility to create an arrangement that suits their own personal space.
We think this is a strong collection with a broad appeal - check out their website here for information on stockists where you are.
The Arizona pendant light from a previous range is a stunning ceramic interpretation of sculptural rock formations and certainly the latest range is building on strong foundations!
