Something a bit different for our Product post today - but whenever we come across a great design story we can't wait to share it. Aëdle is a Paris based audio company founded by Raphaël Lebas de Lacour and Baptiste Sancho who shared a desire to create something unique where there was no compromise between sound quality and design. Hurrah!
Starting from scratch "with little means but great passion" they brought together a team of over 30 people to research and produce the VK1 Classic. Their aim was to merge the latest technology with traditional craftsmanship and judging by the results, it appears that they have exceeded these expectations!
Now we don't pretend to be experts in sound technology however the reviews from those that are, have been great. The VK1 classic is constructed with high definition custom-made titanium transducers, aircraft grade aluminium, and hand stitched lambskin leather. It comes with it's own metal serial card, travel pouch and detachable audio cable.
In the last month, Aëdle have just released the latest edition to the VK1 range - the VK1 Legacy Limited Edition. This was produced a year ago for a show at the Salone del Mobile (Milan) and the company has now decided to release a very limited edition of just 200 which are available exclusively on their website here. They are currently taking pre-orders from June 25 - July 25 so get your skates on if you want to be in with a chance!
As well as being available on their website, the headphones are stocked worldwide in all great audio outlets as well as high-end stores such as Ralph Lauren, The Conran Shop, Selfridges to name a few.
We confess to feeling a little bit in awe of what they have achieved in a relatively short time and admire their uncompromising commitment to create a unique product where design and utility are perfectly aligned.
