We live by the mantra - "Make it Simple but Significant" (so much so it is on our home page) and so it was only going to be a matter of time before we highlighted the Assemblages Range from Lightly - a Melbourne based design studio.
This range was launched fourteen months ago now, and has been a popular inclusion in the Australian Interior Design scene since. However, to all our international readers (and the locals that have not caught on) we thought that the Assemblages range definitely earned it's place in our Daily Dose Product topic of the day!
Lightly is the design-baby of Cindy-Lee Davies, who launched the brand in 2005 with Homewares and Lighting inspired by doilies and lace. As the craft movement has had a resurgence over the last decade, Lightly seems to skilfully link the nostalgic associations we have with that industry, with modern day living and technology to produce products we just love to have in our homes.
The Assemblages collection references the utilitarian nature of leather strapping - but of course for a contemporary aesthetic. Cindy-Lee was inspired by her Grandfather who served in the Australian Light Horse Regiment, and so the saddlery reference of leather girths and buckles is the main feature here, and is used to provide a focal point and point of difference for the end user's own furniture. The Assemblages collection consists of leather straps for both shelving, side tables and books (although the shelves and side-table are available to purchase too). The collection gives the user flexibility to adapt the pieces depending on the space and furniture they are used on.
There is something quite delightful about strapping up your own book collection (as below) with the Book Belt and this can also be used to wrap or anchor your own side table - beautiful on bare timber (or plywood as seen here). We can't wait to use this range for the right client project - the perfect leather accessory to compliment other natural elements in a room!
