Welcome to the SIngita Mara River Tented Camp in the Serengeti, in Tanzania 'the epitome of sustainable tourism' and an African Safari luxurious experience that is on our bucket list! The tented resort has environmental principles at heart, is completely 'off-grid' relying on it's own solar power and using recyclable and biodegradable materials where possible.
With a stunning landscape like this all around, it seems that sustainable tourism is the only sensible approach, and when it looks as good as this, we would hope to see more of this in other pristine landscapes worldwide.
Singita (meaning 'Place of Miracles')is the boutique luxury safari tour brand responsible for around 12 different lodges and camps in three African countries, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. Determined to balance local communities, wildlife conservation and tourism, Singita's core vision is to preserve and protect large tracts of wilderness for future generations.
This small, intimate resort has just six luxurious tents, two of which are suitable for families. Designed by the South African team at Cécile & Boyd, a firm now synonymous with the Singita brand. Cécile & Boyd are renowned for successfully merging European and African influences, and bringing opposing materials and thinking into a harmonious whole (think rough timbers and soft linen, high tech inclusions with home-made accessories).
The Singita Mara River Tented Camp, is composed of industrial metal tent frames with white cotton canvas walls. Furniture, accessories and art is from mainly local African sources with an overall white colour palette. The considered layering of different textures from leather, basket weave, natural fabrics, and timber gives the affect of an African elegance "a certain Boho glamour".
The aim of Singita is to enable it's guests to get close to and embrace the great outdoors and nature, and this has certainly been achieved at Mara River which is known for it's annual wildebeest migration crossings, as well as year round populations of elephants, big cats, crocodiles and hippos!
