The whirlwind of holiday entertaining is here, and for some of us, it gives us that extra excuse to exercise our creativity to the max by extending our decor to the table. As if decorating the Christmas Tree isn't enough! We take at look at table-styling trends for 2015...
It's hard to ignore the fantastic BRIGHT colours that are being embraced. Here in Australia, we are blessed with Christmas heralding in the arrival of the Summer Holidays and so have no excuse not to use this as inspiration for our seasonal decor.
For the traditionalists amongst us, the influence of the Dutch Still-Life endures - with floral arrangements and candelabras giving that opulent and painterly element to our tables. It's a look that doesn't go out of fashion and can create such a classic and elegant impression.
We are huge fans of making life easy (especially at this time of year!) and so love using natural elements as much as possible such as ceramics, natural linens (the Japanese tradition of furoshiki - wrapping cloth) with greenery taken from the garden. The legendary Kinfolk gatherings and tablescapes are truly inspirational!
We also wrote another blog post on Contemporary Christmas Table-scapes about this time last year (check it out here) which also featured the Stylist behind this final image - Kara Rosenlund. Kara's place-setting here has her signature elements of the nostalgic and re-purposed, the home-made and natural. Hard to beat we think?!
Let us know what plans you have to turn your table into a creative backdrop to your festivities this year?
