Graanmarkt 13 is the creative hub and base for husband and wife team Tim Van Geloven and Ilse Cornelissens who fell in love with the Townhouse located in a tree lined square in central Antwerp. However, they wanted more than just a traditional home or business - the result is that Graanmarkt 13 is now not just a home, but also offers shopping, dining and gallery space all under one roof.
Inspired by the Architect Vincent Van Duyson's own home, the couple consulted him for the re-design of the property which was completed in 2010 and quickly established itself as THE destination in Antwerp for stylish shopping, dining and art with each floor offering something different.
Van Duysen is known for his pared back design aesthetic, enabling the essence of materials to be the focus, and you will see this through out Graanmarkt 13 with the use of concrete, old (17th century) timbers and glass.
Van Duysen was inspired by Parisian rooftop gardens and wanted to incorporate this ambience with an outdoor terrace connected to the interior with walls of glass, and enabling the owners to experience great views of the city.
The latest chapter in Graanmarkt 13 is that Tim and Ilse have very recently moved out, making the property the ultimate overnight experience - available for short or longer term leases, where you can really feel at home. Imagine waking up here, wandering downstairs to be creatively inspired at the Gallery, do some shopping for high-end fashion, homewares and collectibles and finishing off dining at the restaurant where fresh ingredients are sourced right from the back door.
Move over boutique hotel - bring on this type of more personal overnight experience please!
