Now that's a stairway to heaven alright! This statement staircase is part of a complete renovation of a Parisian Loft Apartment by the celebrated design team at Studio Ko.
This entrance hall, with it's richly deep toned walls and woodwork contrasts with the pale timber floor and the bright light guiding you up the spiral staircase. We love the green - and are toying with using this in a laundry room in one of our own projects...
Now to the kitchen. Wow! The blend of metallics (both brass and silver) with glossy black and the artisanal blue tiles is really inspired and a combination we haven't seen used before!
The adjoining living and dining rooms have a liberal use of timber from the floor, slatted window blinds and seating. Such warmth is then accentuated with the crimson velvet sofa - note the mirrored plinth in place of legs which simultaneously reduces the feeling of solidity of the piece and also highlights the Beni Ourain Moroccan rug.
We are nuts about details and so a little bit in love with the trio below. The curvaceous chair, the rippled pedestal to the table with the simple restraint of the light makes for a really stunning reading nook.
The apartment has been furnished with a combination of vintage as well custom-made pieces giving the sense that the interiors have evolved over time, reflecting the character of the building itself as well as the unique mix of materials and finishes Studio Ko are known for.
The client is a well-travelled business-man and the ensuite has a certain masculinity about it. The jewel toned Bisazza mosaic tiles and gold tapware is also a nod to the similar colour palette in the kitchen.
When you venture up the magical spiral staircase, the view of the breathtaking roof tops of Paris rewards you. We think this well-travelled resident will find it harder and harder to leave...
