Once again I was a tad spoilt by having lunch at this amazing restaurant in Bali. The actual interiors are stand out, as well as the delicious modern twist on traditional Indonesian cuisine. You truly are spoilt for choice here in Bali when it comes to dining out. 'Merah Putih encapsulates the Indonesian influence in a modern aesthetic. The fantastic concept and design was a collaboration between Bali-based Architectural firm Inspiral Design Studios, and Interior Design firm Motif Surface Design.
Merah Putih isn't just great to look at on face value. The designers have effectively implemented eco-sustainability principles, by capturing rain water from the roof and channelling it down the translucent fabric columns to an in-house filtration system. The rain water is recycled for the restaurant’s daily operations. The expansive exterior glass surfaces are also coated with heat reflective coatings reducing the energy usage, meanwhile letting light through to allow the landscaped interiors to thrive.
The high ceiling, translucent arches and indoor planting remind me of being in an outdoor cathedral. It is such an impressive space. You can enjoy relaxed lunches or intimate dinners as the space transforms from day to night.
I especially love the below wallpaper it works so well with the surrounding furnishings and is bordered by a fish pond. Very nice little touch...
Again greenery is brought into the bathrooms with the selected wallpaper below, a bright freshness is achieved here with the selected colour palette and patterns.
Below are a few images of some of the food we enjoyed sharing over lunch. Local ingredients are sourced and utilised for these divine dishes. Both classic dishes and Modern Indonesian Cuisine are showcased here. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Bali do make a booking so you are not disappointed, especially for dinner. It does tend to get on the busy side then.
