Hotel Hotel is based in the uber cool Nishi Residential Building in New Acton Central Canberra, Australia. The building was designed by Fender Katsalidis in collaboration with Japan's Suppose Design Office. The design intent was to make it Canberra’s most sustainable mixed-use building complex. This building represents a more communal and cosmopolitan way of living. All that you need is at your finger tips, gallery, bars, cinema complex, apartments and a very cool hotel.
The brains behind Hotel Hotel is Molonglo Group’s co-directors, Nectar and Johnathan Efkarpidis. 'The brothers see buildings as potent vessels for delivering cultural and social enterprise. They pursue a collaborative approach to the development of new ideas that help support the global sustainability movement, local artists, designers, and small industry.' Isn't this refreshing!!
Hotel Hotel only occupies 2 floors of this fantastic building. The interiors came to life with the help of filmmaker Don Cameron, he has pulled together spaces filled with life, warmth and character by utilising mixed materials and finishes throughout the spaces; as well as not placing what you would typically expect in a hotel room. He has really thought about evoking emotions and trying to change the way the guest will utilise the spaces. Have a flick through the gallery below to view a few of the rooms.
When away on business or holidays after a while it is really great to be able to come back to a space that may feel like home away from home.
