With the onset of June it is now officially Winter (here in Australia) and there is a definite chill to the air once more. We love the changing seasons, but still like to be able to use our outside space as much as possible, and one way to do this, is to create a focal point to gather together outside with a great fire-pit!
No matter how cold it is where you are, we can all appreciate the impact that a fire creates, and we hope that today's post inspires you to think how you could incorporate one into your outside space.
Fire-pits need to obviously be both practical, safe and aesthetically match the space they are intended for. So whether you have a natural grassy bank, a decked or paved terrace there are either stand-alone options or built-in versions depending on your own needs and space. The key is to consider where you want to create a focal point, and for how many people.
If you are not sure about incorporating a permanent fixture - then take a look at the following images which illustrate that creating a fire-pit outside, needn't be too over-thought or designed. At the end of the day, the simple ritual of preparing a fire, lighting it, and then cooking or brewing tea taps into our primal emotions of survival and perhaps in our modern and convenience-driven world we don't tap into this enough anymore.
Whether you are enjoying summer or winter right now - life doesn't get much better than when we can seek out a beach, grab some cushions, gather driftwood and create a fire pit to toast some marshmallows with the people we love.
Is this something you may feel inspired to do this weekend? Let us know - we'd love to see the results!
