Melbournalia started in 2011 as a pop-up store - it literally popped up all over the place, from coffee shops to warehouses and even the kerb. Although that has an appeal in it's own right (the tracking down, seeking out) it's current permanent home designed by architect Nick Williams and Nick Visser from Make Yourself at Home, seems to perfectly embody the ethos of the locally designed and made goods represented in store.
Travel writer Dale Campisi is the driving force behind the store and an authority on the best that Melbourne has to offer. He recently published 'Melbourne Precincts' which is the result of a decade of getting under the City's skin at all times of day and night giving tourists a local's perspective on over 20 precincts and over 160 inner city haunts.
We think every City needs a store like this - one that embodies the local vibe, supports the local talent pool and enables us to take a little bit of itself home with us.
Do you have a store that champions the artisan & creative talent specific to your City?
We'd love to hear from you!
