The Stripe Collective took on the massive role of designing and branding this 3 storey building in the heart of Chinatown for Oxwell & Co. It is one of the typical shop houses you would find in Singapore, where the building would be used for both retail and residential purposes. This beautiful old building was in need of a lot of love for it to shine once again.
The Stripe Collective stripped the old building right back to find some beautiful old timber floors that were re-stained & exposed character filled timber beams by removing the old plaster ceilings. The first floor of the building is the busy public hub, where people gather for a relaxed drink. There are hundreds of suspended bulbs highlighting the gorgeous railway sleeper bar that was brought in from Sri Lanka.
The floor to ceiling original french windows let the natural light flood into the second floor. This space seats 36 for dining. We love the different combination of materials that work so harmoniously in the space. Such as the pale timber tables paired back with the gorgeous blue chairs. The vintage lighting adding softness with their shapes and let's not forget those very in copper lights. The pressed metal especially flown in also adds an important element of character to the room.
As you head up to the third floor you are pleasantly surprised by the Victorian inspired space. A bit of fun has been had by the team with commissioning the quirky & humorous artwork. The colours are quite a contrast from the other two floors where things seem quite light and sophisticated. Here the deep hues combined with rich velvets, leathers, toille and mahogany create an intimate dining experience for 14 guests.
I know our team at Detail Collective would love to enjoy one or two Friday night drinks here. Even possibly host an intimate dinner in the private dining room.
