We just had to share this with you, just in case you haven't discovered it already - another experience to add to the Bucket List!
Welcome to the Treehotel, a unique hotel experience, based in Harads, which is about 50kms south of the Arctic Circle in Sweden.
You can almost feel the stress of daily life melting away, and enabling you to breath and appreciate the simple raw beauty of your natural environment.
Each Tree house has been architecturally designed and guests have the choice of 6 absolutely unique tree houses, all about 4 - 6 metres above ground, surrounded by pine trees and with spectacular views of the Lule River.
Not only are the exteriors unique - the interior finishes are also custom designed. Click through our gallery below to get a sense of how the pared back ethos enables the natural environment to be the main feature.
The Treehotel has been designed to be integrated in it's stunning surroundings with a minimal environmental footprint - but providing it's guests with intimate and sophisticated interiors. "The modern design combined with the serenity of the forest creates an immediate sense of luxurious rejuvenation.'
The founders of Treehotel, Kent and Britta, were inspired by a movie "The Tree Lover" filmed in Harads, where urban men rediscover their roots through the process of building a treehouse together - at the same time the film raises philosophical questions on the tree's importance to people both historically and culturally.
We feel that everyone needs a Treehouse in their life at some point!
We'd love to hear from you if you have your own Treehouse, or if you have been inspired to create a hide-away in your back yard. Who knows - maybe we can feature some home-grown Treehouses in a future blog post, we look forward to your comments!
